It’s hard to believe it’s that time of year again! Christmas is quickly approaching, and for those with a busy schedule styling your home for the festive season can seem like a tedious and time-consuming task. I’m sharing my top tips to efficiently and cost-effectively decorate your home for the Christmas.

Outside
Simple strings of lights around veranda and porch areas or in bay windows are an elegant and modest way to add a bit of sparkle to your home. Be careful not to go overboard when purchasing Christmas decorations as too much clutter can look disorganised. Quality over quantity is key, invest in superior decorations that will last. Also, keep in mind you’ll need to store all your festive adornments after the holiday so don’t buy beyond your storage means.

Inside
Choosing a cheerful colour palette can greatly enhance the aesthetics of your home, my choices include a combination of red and gold or silver and blue. Always stay consistent with one colour theme throughout the interior and exterior of your home. Choose decorations that are timeless and of good quality so they can be used for more than one season.

Pine is undoubtedly the most traditional decoration for Christmas, incorporating wreaths on stark doors and lengths of greenery on table settings adds a sense of warmth to your home. For smaller spaces consider having a petite tree set up on a raised space such as a bench or table top.

Finally, consider the scent of your home, guests will be pleasantly surprised by a festive aroma. Invest in slow-burning cinnamon scented candles or for the sweet-tooths – bake fresh gingerbread treats! This will fill your home with the smell of Christmas and provide nibbles for your family and friends.
